Google decided to shut down Reader....that makes me sad.
I've been using Reader for at least 6 years, maybe more. I had just discovered what RSS was back then, and it seemed a cool thing to keep up with sites. At first I didn't really use it right, I just subscribed to anything that seemed remotely cool, and ended up having thousands of unread items in mere days, which is impossible to keep up with unless you want to make it a full time job. But I got better with time.

I don't really go to a website's home page that often. If I find a site that interests me and has good content, I subscribe to it's RSS feed and only visit that site again to read the articles I'm interested in. And I usually find those sites through web searches or from referrals from other sites.
I have read how you can use Twitter and Facebook to consume content, but that's not really my style. I just can't seem to use Twitter when I'm following more than like 10 people that actually post stuff. If I check Twitter one day, and then the next, there's like 3 million tweets in between that I didn't read. As for Facebook...the only content I seem to be able to consume there are pictures with big captions on it, or pictures with quotes.
Anyway...it will be missed...
Also, have a good π day :D.

yup...that sucks, im still looking for a replacement....at least i have some time hahah happy pi day :)

DeleteLol you geeks!!
ReplyDeleteI only used it for a few weeks, but like you, I subscribed to too many things and got swamped and stopped reading and I forgot about it, but it was cool, farewell Google Reader :P
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think I have that problem, I could never keep up. Mine always has like 500+ unread items. But I can't unsubscribe either, cuz I do like the feeds, but I just don't have time lol so yeah. But I don't use it as much as you guys. I just need something to consolidate all the friend blogs i follow lol
