Woot, I'm not dead!
Recently I started to replay Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, a DS RPG I had played a couple of years ago. For a while now, my 3DS has been set to Spanish, I don't really know why, and I don't really mind. And just for shits and giggles, I decided to play the text-heavy game in Spanish...
Spanish may be my mother tongue, but I have ALWAYS played video games in English. Because of that, I found reading the text in Spanish for an RPG game to be way harder than it should for a person that almost only speaks Spanish.
I'm so used to names in English, that seeing "HP" (hit points) replaced with "PV" (puntos de vida) was very weird. Even something like "Somebody gained 3 exp. points" replaced with "Alguien ha ganado 3 puntos de exp." seems strange. It took me almost 3 times as much time to read it. And then some lines just become too long (e.g. "Matthew mastered Vulcan Axe's Fire Strike" to "Matthew ha perfeccionado el golpe de fuego del hacha vulcánica").
It is fun though, because I find languages very interesting
