Hello USA, Goodbye USA

They finally opened the US border for non-essential travel if you have been fully vaccinated. I hadn't been to EP in a year and a half. I was excited to be able to go back. Play board games.

But why would life be so easy. Life said: yeah, you can go back to EP...once.

So, I can't go back until I renew my visa. Ok, no big deal, I went a year and a half without being able to cross, let's renew the visa.

But life wanted to make sure I got the message right (what message? I don't know, but there's one somewhere probably)

Life said: I know you can wait for a year and a half without crossing, how about another year and a half?

Goodbye US for a while I guess.

RLCS

 Or, Rocket League Championship Serires. You know, a bunch of really talented teenagers playing car soccer for people to watch.

It's so fun for me to watch. Especially when the team I'm rooting for is often a top contender. This is the feeling "normal" people must have when they watch whichever sport they like every week.

The new season began a few weeks ago after 3 months of break, and I didn't realize how much I missed it. The rivalries, the progress toward the final tournament at the end of the season, the stress of watching your team go to overtime in game 7 against their toughest opponent in the final.

It's a good feeling.

Metroid Dread

Metroid Dread came out last Friday. I was so excited for it, like I haven't been for a new game in many years. And it totally paid off. I don't play that many single player games nowadays, and when I do, I either don't finish them, or it takes me ages to do so.

I finished Dread in two sittings. Sure, it's not the longest game, it took me 8 hours to beat it, but I had so much fun every minute of it. It felt good to feel that way for a video game. It took me back to my teen years and most of my 20s.

It took a third session to collect 100% of the items (didn't look at guides at all, but it is on the easier side to collect all the stuff, not as hard as games back in the 90s, 2000s).

And now, I'm going to do a second playthrough in hard.

I suck at origami

 Why I even tried is beyond me.

I was watching a video of an origami pumpkin with Leonardo, cause he's decorating the house with halloween stuff. It seemed simple enough....

...it wasn't

I struggled to make this shitty ass pumpkin. The folds, the paper just didn't want to fold like I wanted it to. It didn't help that the paper was thin. Leonardo did the green part out of his imagination, which is why it looks so big.

That one was was easier, but it would've looked better in black.

Needless to say, I'm not good at origami.

Trying Windows 11

I needed to install Windows 11 in my work laptop because I'm trying to use only Windows for developing. It turns out you can run GUI Linux programs in windows natively in an update that's not yet live and by joining the Windows Insider thing, I got updated to Windows 11 without even knowing that it would.

I'm actually liking it. I like how it looks. I like how I can more easily control windows in a dual display set-up, and how I have more freedom to snap multiple windows in screen. The new settings app is going to take a bit of getting used to, but I don't mind it.

I don't like it that the taskbar icons are not really centered though. Hopefully they'll fix it.

This is the longest I've been without actually booting into a Linux distro in my computer. It's been about 3 weeks now.

I know me though, I'll go back eventually when things feel stale. That's me, always wanting to try new things. I've formatted my computer like 10 times in the last 2 years.

Walking the dogs

I didn't do a lot of interesting things today. Me and Zelene went for a walk with our dogs. It's relaxing, kind of. Because they're crazy. I have a Siberian Husky and a mix of mostly Labrador with a hint of Husky and who knows what else. They like running towards everybody. Everybody. And the park is full of people, so it's kind of hard. Mostly 'cause we haven't trained them properly. But once the initial exciting effect has passed, they're pretty cool to walk. And to play with.

That's it, I have nothing more interesting to talk about. I didn't take a picture. I have no picture to add to this post.

Lately it seems like they're working in every part of the city. I know of at least 3 places in a 1-mile radius where they're doing some work, and traffic is just awful. I live about 1 and a half miles from work. It takes me 15 minutes to get there. That doesn't make sense. And there aren't any faster routes, that's the fastest one. So, yeah, it sucks.

One year later

It's been almost one year since I posted here.

It's past midnight and I'm falling asleep. I've changed. I used to blog in the early morning right before going to bed. But now? It's surprising that I'm awake after midnight.

Since the last post I have gotten a job, I've moved in with my girlfriend, and I've married. All those aspects have contributed in my sleeping habits.

I can't stay up very late at night. My body just can't take it. And still, I suffer to get up in the mornings. It's the worse thing ever.

I'll just post a random pic, because I have nothing that relates to the post.
