I tried installing Ubuntu 11.10 on my laptop...and failed miserably.
I tried upgrading it first from 11.04, it took its sweet time and after it was done when I tried booting into Ubuntu but the screen just stayed black...
Ok, it's still an alpha release so I figured a clean install would do the trick...downloaded it, burnt it to a disc, installed it, and when I tried booting it, again, a black screen with just an OK...
But it's too late for me to try to figure out what's wrong right now, I'll leave it for tomorrow, or maybe I'll wait until September 1st when the first beta comes out...
